We hosted the Enterprise Summer School last week and, like last year, it was a great success! The event gave the students practical experience of the business world, as well as enterprise skills training. It started with workshops exploring all the different aspects of setting up a business. The students were then split into teams to come up with a business idea and plan to pitch to a panel of business experts in a ‘Dragons Den’ style format. The winning pitch came from GreenSphere who had developed a healthy bar and lounge idea that serves locally sourced organic drinks and foods.
The judges were very impressed with all of the pitches as they were energetic, imaginative and well thought out. The other teams were ColorLife, Yummy Yogurt, Mita and Event Solution.
The Enterprise Summer School is an excellent way for students to gain an insight into starting a business and extra skills which can give them an edge when it comes to applying for jobs. Look out for the next one in 2011!
