The last few decades have seen a technological boom, with the internet, computers and mobile phones becoming as common in UK households as bread and milk. As well as greatly enhancing communications and revolutionising business on a global scale, technological innovations have pushed the boundaries in terms of artificial intelligence. Strange to imagine, but the type of domestic robots featured in science fiction films may soon be happily sitting alongside your MP3 player, plugged into the wall to charge.
The UK is advancing towards serious economic and social problems as we see an increasingly ageing population. Amongst other socio-economic impacts, this will result in a significant shortage of carers to support the elderly and infirm in their daily lives.
As part of the ‘Changing Lives’ programme 2010, our team of researchers will open their work on the development of robotic homecare systems to encourage and support independence for less-able-bodied individuals. Join us at the Knowledge Network event on Wednesday 24th November 2010 at Putteridge Bury Conference Centre. For more information click here or call 0800 328 5334.
